• Apple Cider Vinegar with the 'Mother', Organic and Unfiltered. Will it work?

Just before Christmas I went to visit my Mum and was shocked at how large her hand had grown, due to arthritis she said. The pain is terrible now she said. So we talked and googled and we came across Apple Cider Vinegar with the Mother. Organic.  I have heard of this before and heard all kinds of stories about the benefits of taking it each day but when we started to google together the list seemed endless.

According to the Daily Mail online (07.09.08) Sir Ranulph Fiennes stated that he cured his arthritis with a daily dose of apple cider vinegar and honey.  I have a friend who reduced her cholesterol and swears it was the apple cider vinegar.  I know a guy who takes it when he feels his gout coming back and it doesn't.  Whether folklore or fact it seemed worth a try.

So we ordered it. My mum has been taking it daily for three weeks (mixed with her daily cranberry juice) and already is starting to feel different.  She has more energy (cleaned out all of her kitchen cupboards yesterday!) and her pain, although still there has eased.  A few weeks we don’t think is enough time, but time will tell…. we can’t wait to see the results!

The reason it contains the ‘Mother’ is because the Apple Cider Vinegar is then organic and high quality. If you buy off the counter in your local supermarket chances are it has been processed and is not natural.  The Mother is ‘strands of protein, enzymes and friendly bacteria which give a murky, cobweb like appearance’.  It doesn’t look very appetising but be assured it’s completely harmless.  You can even transfer some of the mother to a new bottle, top up with organic apple juice and make some more vinegar!

We found Braggs and Biona, both reasonably priced online and Organic and Unfiltered.

    Suggested benefits

Once you start delving into it online you find all kinds of potential benefits:

Diabetes, Cholesterol, Blood pressure, Acne, Weight Loss, Skin Conditions, Sinus Congestion, Sore Throat, Arthritis, Increase Energy Levels, Antioxidant Properties and Heartburn and Reflux

We picked up a few ideas on how to take it too:

Mixed with yogurt, mixed with a fruit drink, mixed with honey and/or lemon, mixed with plain old water.  You could always put a teaspoon on your chips!

New Year comes with expectation and trepidation.  Any positive change is good for us, and mine this year is going to be Apple Cider Vinegar with the Mother.  Whether it's a myth or not, for me it's worth a go.

Have a google and read for yourself.

Have you tried it before?  Do you know anyone who has?

    Have a great week

  • Why did Eloquence choose Sacha Inchi Oil?

    • That high protein oil from Peru that comes from a seed and has the highest omega 3, 6 and 9.
    • One of the richest natural sources of omega fatty acids essential for human life.
    • That beautiful looking star shaped pod that houses the seed, is 100% natural and contains no additives.

This unknown seed is amazing, of course that's why!

    Peruvian Rainforest

It might be new to the UK community but the people of Peru have been using Sacha Inchi Oil as a food source for 3000 years. Who’d have known? The seed of the plant is either lightly roasted or it's used as a cooking oil. It has a slightly nutty flavour and therefore sometimes called the Inca Peanut.  It has been cultivated in the Amazon rainforest along the east slope of the lower Andes for over 3,000 years.

For your information though it does have a few different names!

It’s also known as Plukenetia Volubilus, Inca peanut, Sacha Peanut, Mountain Peanut and Sacha Inchi Inca to name a few.

    Skincare Benefits

It’s full of anti-oxidants to help protect against environmental stress, and Vitamin A & E are a must in our skincare regime and lucky for us this oil has them both. All helping to tone skin and reduce those wrinkles.  We're in!

So, just a few of the benefits if part of your skincare regime:

    • Helps to restore balance
    • Light oil that absorbs quicklyskin
    • Antioxidant – helps support anti-aging
    • Balance acne prone skin
    • Suitable for all skin types

As a result people are starting to hear and talk about this amazing seed. I read recently that it’s now on the superfood list for vegans, fantastic news for this seed.  It’s organic, fairly traded and sustainably produced, Oxfam have even helped the people of Peru export it fairly.

Consequently that’s why we added it into all of our formulas and products at Eloquence. It’s us now, it’s our signature ingredient and what makes EQ products so great.

Enjoy the run up to Christmas and the start of the festivities!

  • The Eloquence story

Somewhere in a sustainable farm house a lady who loves beautiful products wanted to use a regime that was natural, yet with a luxurious feel.  She saw a gap in the market between natural and luxurious products, products either looked cheap or were far too expensive to justify the cost.

It’s important for this said lady to treat the environment with respect and utilise all of its powers, she uses solar for electricity, water stored on the land from the mountains, wood to keep warm, grows organic vegetables and never uses fossil fuels.  Why then would she treat her body any differently? The problem being however, she still loved to treat herself to luxurious products (you can take the girl out of the city and all that).

So, she developed some products that she knew would look lovely in her bathroom yet were good for her skin, hair and nails.

Eloquence was developed to be a natural product that could compete with the well-known brands out there (that she had always loved) and wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg for the consumer, another of her pet hates about products, far too expensive.

Harnessing the power of the unknown Peruvian Sacha Inchi Oil within all of the formulations, with expert help from the Development Chemist they produced five products that contain NO artificial colours or perfumes, NO parabens and NO harsh chemicals.  And of course are cruelty free.

sacha-inchiSacha Inchi Oil is little known, yet the people of Peru have been using this seed for centuries due to the high level of vitamins, antioxidants and fatty acids and of course the high content of omegas.  Just what we need, inside and out.

The feedback has been phenomenal.  Once people try they never look back.  Beauty bloggers LOVE the products as do the repeat customers who order online. Sacha Inchi Oil is in all of Eloquence’s products, even the eye gel.  Why not harness the powers of this great seed by using it everywhere?

  • The Wonder of Oil

Fish oils make you brainy, Coconut oil is great for your hair, Olive Oil increases life expectancy, and the list goes on and on.

But why are oils so good for us?

Whether we eat or apply oil the benefits are great. Uumm yummy beef tomatoes drizzled in olive oil with basil.  Basic but delicious and a big part of the diet in the Med!   And it’s because oil’s are high in anti-oxidants and Omega 3, 6 and 9 that they are so good, reducing risk of heart disease and supporting joints.

But how do they help our skin? The high content of Omega’s in oils is how!

Omega 3 helps to restore skin elasticity preventing wrinkles.

Omega 6 helps to combat skin hydration

Omega 9 helps protect the skin from environmental stress

So here at EQ we thought let’s develop a treatment oil that combines many of the different oils out there and create something that is 100% natural, smells delicious and absorbs quickly.

And we did.  Our Nourishing Treatment Oil.  square-eloquence

It contains:  Olive Oil, Sacha Inchi Oil, Coconut Oil, Sweet almond Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Argan Oil, Sunflower Oil and an Essential Oil blended fragrance.  It’s so versatile it can be used on skin, hair and nails and each oil has its own benefits.

Honestly, I have so much to say about oils that I’ve learnt along the journey with Eloquence that I will never fit it all into this post. I could go on and on……. so, I’ll save it for another day!

    Have a lovely weekend
